fashion crimesFashion industry is a future industry with lots of scope and creativity but what happens if this creativity or the original designs of the designers are stolen. There are no rules and regulation for this steal till now but the problem is there as with designers publicly accusing each other and other establishments of copying their designs so to put this to an end FDCI(Fashion Design Council of India) has announced the need for protecting the ‘Intellectual Property Rights’ (IPR) of designers.

This decision taken by FDCI has been respected and accepted by all leading fashion designers of the industry. According to them they feel bit safe after execution of this law.

These were the words of Director General of FDCI in favour of this law “In today’s world of heightened IPR awareness and a growing emphasis on originality and creativity, the old adage that ‘imitation is the best form of flattery’ does not apply any more — at least in the fashion industry — which is projected to be among the more profitable businesses in future.”

This step will surely help new designers to come up and give them freeness to show there creativity without the fear of being design lift. Ritu berry also filed a case against copy of her design and the case was in her favour. In order to save this new emerging industry and development oppurtunity taking this step was a necessity.

Fashion crime is new for the Indian society as Cyber crime and still many more laws and changes in the existing laws are required to stop the dirty games and elements in this creative area.
