There are vast oppurtunities in the field of fashion so, Today we will be exploring the aulternative careers after doing any kind of designing.
Fashion Designing- Fashion designers create designs for clothes, accessories, footwears, lingerie, sportswear, childrens garment etc. Just a few designers produce there own collections or work for haute couture(high fashion)firms, which design one off garment for individual customers. Aspiring fashion designer must be artistic and creative. With an eye on colour, texture, designs, pattern, posses good drawing skills, practicle skills for producing clothes, be able to commumicate ideas through sketches and computer aided images, work out cost and budget, and if freelancing is able to market there own work, negotiate with clients and buyers, as well as handle the business. Entry into the industry without formal training would be difficult, but for those who are exceptionally talented and have a extraordinary portfolio,ambitious and preseverance. it may be possible.
Accessory designing- Accessories designer conceptualise and create designs for footwear, handbags, hats, ties and belts etc to go with your attire.
Jewellery Designers- We have lots of renowned and famous Institute for learning jewellery designing, and the scope is immense in this field. This is a new trend and fashion and a very bright career. These designers design jewellery for famous companies like Nakshatra, Tanishk, Agni, Eros etc.
Costume Designers- These designers work mainly for films, television and theatre, They research and design authentic period,country or social class costume. They create sketches of costumes and develop costume budget for the entire production. Skills are the same as for fashion designers.
Fashion Merchandising- Fashion merchandiser concentrates on the planning, procurement and sales aspect of the fashion business. Fashion merchandiser combine the skills of advertising, retail knowledge, marketing and the creativity of fashion designer. To survive in the market they need to have self confidence, good judgement capacity, resourcefulness, enthusiasm, motivation, attention to detail a genuine interest in the fashion market and the desire to live in this fast paced world.
Boutique Owners- These are either trained in fashion design, apparel merchandising, marketing or fashion management. They may also be MBA’S. To be successful boutique owner one has to entrepreneurial and driven, possessing a combination of savvy business skill and in depth knowledge of the fashion retail industry.
Fashion Stylist- These people bring to life a photographer or director’s vision for a fashion photo shoot, layout, fashion shows and events, music video, commercials and print advertisements. They create a mood for the shoot by selecting an appropriate props, fashions, accessories and even models to fit the theme of the shoot. Stylist can be employed by magazines,newspapers, retailers, advertising agencies, television and music production companies, but most freelance.
Fashion Journalist/Critics/Writers produce editorial copies for fashion magazines, newspapers, websites or blogs, and for television. They may be trained in fashion communication, fashion merchandising, fashion management and fashion design or be journalist with knowledge in fashion.
Fashion Photographers- conceptualise and shoot photos and videos to show off clothes and accessories in creative manner so as to catch the eye of consumers. They must have a good eye on style and beauty, and be skilled for working with there models to achieve the bst possible pose and photos. Most work as freelancers. They may have developed their talent through amateur photography, short courses in photography, fine art or fashion training, but have mainly been self taught as formal courses are few.
