Over the years, FDCI has been doing marvelous job in providing a base to the Indian fashion internationally. Many Indian and aspiring models have auditioned for upcoming Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2009, but the quality which was required was good presence skill, face to be remembered and fit body.

This is what jury members are looking exactly in a new faces of 2009 for Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter.

Aparna Bahl, said, “The look on the ramp is very international these days, so a dusky Indian beauty with global appeal is what I would look out for along with good skin and a lot of individuality.”

Ashish Soni, said, “I’m looking for confidence, poise and something out of the ordinary, as the cliché goes “lots of attitude”… this one translated refers to not the usual qualities but something that a majority of the other girls don’t possess an interesting skin tone, body proportions, hairstyle and above all eye contact!”

Ayesha Thapar, said, “I’ll be looking for someone who has a complete package. It’s not important for a model to have only one outstanding feature, for instance, height alone does not make a model suitable for the ramp – but what important is how comfortable they are in their skin and how well coordinated they are in terms of their looks, attitude and poise on the ramp.”

Rahul Khanna, said, “I’m definitely looking for someone who makes a lasting impression on the ramp – someone who has an undeniable presence. The right attitude is also key for a model to have. I feel we have some great established models walking the runway, but we also need to look for new faces to introduce and launch.”

Tinu Verghese, said, “I’m looking for fresh faces, someone tall and slender with a great attitude and decidedly Indian features.”

Varun Bahl, said, “The look I’m going to be watching out for is one that is well divided and can carry and showcase Western as well as Indian wear. Additionally I’ll be looking for girls that are tall, young and have a lot of confidence on the ramp.”

Vidyun Singh, said, “The fashion week requires the models to be adaptive from one designers show to another and given that there is hardly any time to train them, there needs to be a basic understanding of ramp shows. I will try to choose the most versatile person who fits into the need of all designers, someone who can swing into the rhythm of Fashion Week with minimal intervention.”

This fest of total three days will provide Luxury brands experience, elite celebrations, top-notch fashion designers showcases, Luxury exhibits, business networking opportunities, thematic performances, and post show parties. The participating designers are Wendell Rodricks, Ritu Beri, Rohit Bal, Shane & Phalguni, Nandita Mahtani, Arjun Khanna, Krishna Mehta, Rocky S and last but not the least Vikram Phadnis.

The show started with the Rocky s collection and beautiful Raima Sen was his show stopper, his collection moreover was on the summer side with lots of cotton, linens and soft voils, these fabrics were beautifully ornamented with shimmer and shine by the use of sequin embroidery.

Vikram Phadnis showcased the exquisite range of his bridal wear, his mughal era collection with luxurious lehengas kurtas, dupattas, saris, elaborate sherwanis and Achkans embellished with intricate zardosi, gota and bagh embroidery, velvet cutwork steal everyones heart. Katrina Kaif was the show stopper for Vikram Phadnis and she was looking extremely gorgeous in Vikram’s bridal wear.

Many more bollywood celebrities participated in the show like Vidya Balan, Amrita Rao, Harman Baweja, Neha Dhupia, Sameera Reddy and Celina Jaitley. So it will not be wrong if I say it was event of stars dazzlng on the ramp.

Last year all of us wear lots of bright shades and splash of colours in everything like Yellow, purple, fuscia, green all colours were seen in their unusually bright and pure forms. Wether it is clothing, footwear, accessories or home decor colours selcted for all of them were bright tones.

 Considering the bright heus last year, this year colours palette can take a turn and be more on muted side and subdued tones. hOwever brights will be introduced like colour to be put together for beautiful creations.

There is one more very important reason behind selection of these subdued shades is the recent terror activities in Mumbai which has effected the mental framework of people, second reason which add up is the ongoing economic slowdown, all these things are definately going to effect the common people and hence, dull heus will more be in demand this year.

Colours for summer 2009

Summer of 2009 will re-introduce classic shades of beiges & whites as a must have. Pinks are always in demand for summers but this year pink along with peach will create magic. Peach can be the colour of the year 2009 also. Khaki, Granite grey, moss green, greyish blue and burnt pink will hold an important position in men’s wardrobe. Party colours will be shimmering gold ,fleshy berown and silver which is more on grey side.

 Colours for Winter 2009

Emerald green, Aubergine, granite green, wine red, ash grey, charcoal black, greyish brown will be the picks of the season for both men & women. Deep tones of almost all the bright shades will do this winter for parties.

So, these were few colour predictions for 2009, hope you will start arranging your wardrobe accordingly.

Designers worked hard for the show and the collection was mixed outcome of ethnicity and modernity. Flowing fabric were moreover used in the show like chiffon, georgette, silks, tussars. They used lots of colour and designes were no doubt inspired by Indian looks and embroideries. Designers used lots of thread work and victorian lace.

This is a positive move of Indian fashion Industry, which will take Indian fashion Overseas in a huge manner.

A small incident happened on Rajesh Pratap show again when model Bhavna got disbalanced but somehow tried to manage. It seems designers were not ready for this fashion show as they are for other shows. Anyways, garments displayed in this WIFW are marvellous nobody can deny that.
